Our Mission
Leland Speech and Debate is one of the most competitive, high-achieving teams in the United States. Leland was the only school to receive the School of Excellence Award at the 2016 National Championships and is currently ranked sixth in the nation and first in California by the National Speech and Debate Association. With more than 200 members and over 20 coaches, an atmosphere of curiosity, collaboration, and teamwork fuels excitement and fosters the desire to learn and improve. Just within the past five years, Leland has produced multiple State champions and National finalists. All these accomplishments are a reflection of the focus Leland places on the development of communication skills that will remain useful throughout students' lives.
